Join us on a weekend in the beautiful rolling hills of South – Mid Wales.

This trip is designed for those that have joined CAP over the past few months and aims to give you the opportunity to progress onto basic level (Grade 2-3 ) Whitewater paddling.

We’ve done this trip a few times and enjoyed two brilliant days of paddling.

We’ll be returning to the beautiful River Tywi, see pictures on left hand side,

described in the guidebooks as the Best Grade 2 Touring River in the Country.

Continuous moving water in the lovely Welsh Hills scenery, a number of wave trains, and boulder gardens, Basically Grade 2, with a couple of Grade  3 drops and a mini gorge.

On the second day we’ll either return to The Tywi , maybe a different section,

or another suitable local river. A lot will depend on the make up of the group,

how you are all progressing and in particular the prevailing water levels !

We’ve arranged for CAP to have exclusive use of a YHA run Youth Hostel situated in a very rural and remote part of the Brecon Beacons. We’ve never used this one before, but it’s a very cozy converted village Inn which still retains much of it’s original character.

There are a number of bedrooms of various sizes, a comfy lounge / diner, shower rooms and a drying room. Breakfasts and packed lunches will be self prepared by the group

and then we’ll drive a few miles across the hills for a pub Dinner out on Saturday eve.

As with any Kayaking trip, we are very dependant on water levels, a situation could arise whereby rivers are too low / too high to paddle or that we have to move to other Rivers which may be more or less challenging. We might even have to ditch the boats and explore others attractions in this beautiful part of the countryside.

We’ll obviously do our best for you although the Tywi is paddleable at most levels !

The trip will be led by Gary, Darren and Ivan supported by other proficient paddlers.

I estimate the total cost of the trip to be approx £50 pp, to include, two night’s bunkhouse accommodation, hire of Club boat and equipment, two breakfasts and two packed lunches. Dinners out, drinks and shared petrol costs will be extra to this,

as will be costs of any local visits / activities we undertake should we be unable to kayak.

LIMITED PLACES, FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED … Please could you email info@CroydonactivePaddlers.org to confirm if you wish to take part and if you are willing to take your car if needed. Following that email we would require a £30 pp non refundable deposit with the balance to be paid  on the trip. Further more specific details will be sent later to all participants.
